Aventura Police Body-Worn-Camera Footage
The Aventura Police Department uses body-worn cameras, and footage may exist when officers respond to or investigate a traffic crash. Requests can be submitted through the City of Aventura’s public-records portal or directed to the Police Records Unit. Availability depends on whether footage was recorded, retained, classified as evidence, or subject to an applicable exemption or redaction. Because video may not be retained indefinitely, a detailed preservation and public-records request should be submitted promptly.

Chapter 119, Florida Statutes — the Public Records Act, presuming the footage is a public record absent a specific exemption
Section 119.071, Florida Statutes — allows footage tied to an active criminal investigation to be withheld until the case is no longer active. This is especially relevant for anything connected to an officer-involved shooting or in-custody incident, where footage (if it exists) is likely to be held back for an extended period while a criminal investigation and any Florida Department of Law Enforcement review proceeds.
